Default Fat T Bars on Sportster

I know this subject has been done many times, but I'm planning on changing my handlebars out next week and looking for some pics. Anybody put 1 1/4 bars on there sportster or will it just look top heavy. I leaning toward T bars or just drag bars.

I looked onto it and with the T-bars..you won't be able to use your stock gauges..which means....at least for me, no indicator lights,fuel,oil...and so on..

I installed 1-1/4" Bully bars on my '96. THey are 32" in length and they drop down to 1" in the riser area and hand controll areas. I utilized my stock risers and retained my idiot lights and stock speedo mounting system.
Coincidentally I just helped a buddy of mine install his Drag bars that he purchased from the local stealer. They are just the 1" stock style drags with a small pull back to them. they look nice but in my opinion they are way too skinny and short.
Hope this helps

Yeah, that helps alot. I think I'll go with the 1 1/4. What kinda tank do you have on your bike? I really like it.

I am thinking of making the change myself to 1 1/4" drag bars. How did your speedo hook up to the larger drag bars?

Ok sorry for the delay guys...

First the tank question... It is a 4.2 Gallon 2" stretched tank made by custom chrome.
It is a bit costly but as you can see in the pic (the blue signature pic) it was worth it.
I made the mistake of buying a knock off (orange paint job) first and the little I saved compiles into buying a new tank and repainting it again due to shotty craftmanship. It cracked in the tunnel area and the metal was so thin it couldn't be fixed without putting in a new tunnel....
So make sure you buy a quality tank when and if you go that route. it will pay off in the long run.

Now to answer the second question...
My speedometer is still mounted in the stock position. It mounts to the risers on the lower handlebar retaining bolts.
The risers are stock and they neck down to 1" ( factory size) in the riser area and also for the hand controls which are still stock with the exception of the Arlen Ness grips.
Also the bars are dimpled in the appropriate areas as well as an opening to run your wiring through the bars if you so choose to do so. Let me tell ya it cleans things up alot.

Hope this all helps

Thanks for the information, I think I will go with the 1 1/4" bars also.
