The car sounded like it had headers and a bit of a hot cam. I just new he was going to nail it at the green light and try to cut me off before he hit the closed lane in front of him! I wasn't going to let him get away with that so I launched with everything I had (I used to drag race my Kawasaki KZ1000 back in the 70s). Well, He smoked me! I mean he really smoked me bad!
So I can understand wanting to show some ricer who's boss but in reality do you really feel that you have to beat your bike to be respected on it?

Something is wrong with your bike or that car was highly modified. Any bike should be able to launch better than a car. What do you consider lauching with everything you have?
Who's beating on their bike? It's called giving it gas. In reality sportsters don't do very well with low revs. You are probably doing more damage to your sportster putting it around town lugging the motor than winding it out.
