There's no doubt that the high rpm rockets will take over with distance. However, it can be fun to beat them off the line with your low-end torque and then back off. It puts an eternal stain on their rice burnt soul [8D]

I'm just an old Harley guy, and never had the urge to ride (let alone purchase) one of the high power Sport Bikes, but I am stunned by the amount of power you can get for the money.

Did you ever see the Warren Miller ski movies, "steeper and deeper". Young studs whose IQ matched their waist size. Riders of crutch rockets remind me of that crowd. Showing how brave you are by putting themselves in danger.

If I was a young kid again, I'd have me a GSXRWYZ and blister every HD that had the ***** to race me
When Matt had his 600 we used to ride alot, and we always had to play around some, that 600, with him on it was awesome fast! I rode it some while he was in Iraq, and aint no way no HD out cruisin could touch that thing. It sure was a fun Bike to ride around the block!

Maybe they are more comfortable than they look, but I'm so use to riding in a 'laid back position' that I'm not sure my body would work in the 'laid forward position' that's needed on a Sport Bike.
I'd probably fall off or kill myself within the first half mile, so I guess it wouldn't matter.

RE: So a guy in a Kawasi 600 wanted to race me.
One day I was stopped at an intersection in the right lane. Just past the intersection the left lane was coned off with road work going on. Well, while I was sitting there a guy in a Cadillac Seville pulled up next to me in the left lane. The car sounded like it had headers and a bit of a hot cam. I just new he was going to nail it at the green light and try to cut me off before he hit the closed lane in front of him! I wasn't going to let him get away with that so I launched with everything I had (I used to drag race my Kawasaki KZ1000 back in the 70s). Well, He smoked me! I mean he really smoked me bad! You're right OldFenderGuy. Harleys aren't race bikes! I'm going back to just cruzin and enjoying the scenery!. I guess no matter how old I get racing will always be in my blood. Oh well, that's what my Speedway bike is for. I race it every Saturday night. It goes 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and has no brakes! What an adrenalin rush! I love it!
