We had a guy at bike night a couple of weeks ago on a Hayabusa that was heavily modified (nitrous, etc...). He claimed it was well over 300HP.
I am stunned by the amount of power you can get for the money.
There isa Turbo Hayabusalisted on EBay (shown below) that has been set up for high performance street use, and it has a dyno output of 489 horsepower at the rear wheel.
It runs the quarter mile in 8.20 seconds with a speed of 178 MPH. [8D]

Question I have is why a Harley rider would care, or even want to 'race' someone on a Sport Bike..
The reality is that even though Harley's are 'quick bikes', they pale in acceleration when compared to most 600CC and up Sport Bikes. Just the way it is, a fact of life.
Harley's are made for cruising in style, and should never be mistaken for a race bike.

I remember one day of some obese guy on a 600cc sport bike being an ******* at the light and thinking he'll show my sportster a thing or two. Well the bottom line is he didn't. I have no doubt he would have been gone if he was able to wind out that bike, but he wasn't able to in the city traffic. I could see the look on his face at every stop light getting pissed off more and more each minute and it was pricless.
Now if he weighed 150 lbs less and had a liter sport bike it would have been a differenct story. However, it's still amusing. Those 1200 sportsters will surprise a lot of inexperienced riders from light to light.

Well, that was kind of my point. Not that it mattered to me( I didn't put my whole heart into it), but that it mattered to this guy.
It is obvious I am a crusier and people always want to race me, usually cars.
I find it odd.

Yeah but any experienced rider knows that most Sport Bikes (especially the smaller 600CC class) don't make horsepower at low RPM's.
Let one 'jump off the line' at 7,000+ RPM and see what happens.

The other side of the coin is if the guy does know how to ride you lost........ Bad.

I am under no illusion that an experienced rider on one of those machines would leave me in the dust, but I still find it amusing to race inexperienced riders that think they can dust you real easily.

I get ricer(cars) wanting to race me all the time. During the end of the Nortex ride, a Acura was trying to provok me to race. I looked at Brian like;"Give me a break". During the second half of the ride I had a crotch rocket give me the low hand wave with the finger.
Do I care? Hell no.
