Default RE: check engine and battary lights

My 06 883L did that last Sunday. I was riding, and it was fine, then I stopped, and when I restarted the bike, both the check engine light, and battery light came on. I shut the engine down, and restarted, then only the check engine light was on, but just for a few seconds.

After only about 3 miles, I stopped again, and when I restarted the check engine light came on, just for a few seconds. I continued, and rode about 50 miles home. No further occurances of the lights.

On Monday, I pulled the DTC, and the indication was battery - low voltage. So, I fully checked the battery with a multi-meter, it checked out fine, both cold and running. I cleared the DTC, and haven't had a problem since. After that on Tuesday, I went of a 350 mile ride, and another over 350 mile ride yesterday, plus the usual just around town stuff. I haven't had any further problems......go figure??

Does this sound like what is happening with your bike, or is the light remaining on for a longer period. Is it just when you start the bike, or while you are going down the road?

If you don't know how to read the DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) there is a post on it at the top of the main sportster section here labeled DIAGNOSTIC CODES. Use the 04-05 selection, it should be close enough for your 07.
