Default Popping out of 1st gear

Bike started popping out of 1st gear. From what I read basically I gotta do a full rebuild because having to slit the cases.

How difficult is this to tear down? I am pretty mechanically inclined. Rebuilt several car engines.

I would pull the primary cover off first and see if there was any issue with the shiftier mechanism assembly that is causing it not to go into gear all the way. Sportster transmissions are normally bulletproof. You do have a HD Field Service Manual right?

You can go here for further information: http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...cal_categories

Shifter mechanism first then , Outside chance if it`s been abused of a bent shift fork, or worn dogs
