Someone must think it looks good but to have that appendage to hold the back light and license plate I don't get at all.

Those cylinder heads are hideous on that new bike. More like a child's toy motorcyle, similar to that ugly Indian model.

From the conversation I had with one of the engineers at the Washington DC IMS show it's probably a year or so away.

Given the fact that the Sporty (and Street) are 25% of their sales I would hope they don't go way too wild with the changes.

Nope.

One of the several things that made the original Sportster such a success was that it was a motorcycle. Nothing more, nothing less. What became to be called a "Standard."

Regular motorcycles don't have kicked out front forks and forward controls that throw you into a completely unnatural riding position. Not that aficionados of forward controls don't love 'em, mind you.

As a lifelong Sportster lover, what would tickle me is if the MoCo put that new 1250cc motor from the Pan American and the Bronx into an updated frame. That'd be cool. I'd actually consider buying one.

I have no problem with the new engine design, time marches on and the rumbly air cooled V-twin has sadly just about reached it's end. It's the styling I can't stand, it's a mish mash of styles IMO. If HD was trying to make an all badass looking bike, they failed miserably, it just looks stupid. The absolute worst thing about it is the fugly fat front tire.

As I said up thread, there is NOTHING remotely 'sporty' about it. If there ever was a bar hopper, THAT is it.
