I love my 1200 C but the only reason I have it is that I don't ride two up. Get the softail.

I just got back from a two-day 600 mile trip riding solo and it about killed my back. The suspension really stinks on these bikes. Before I do another long haul I'll either upgrade the suspension or get a bike more geared for touring. Enough rant... do the rental.

Thanks a bunch for the input. I'm gonna go with the rental. I just hope she doesn't get any ideas about trading in the Sporty for a bigger bikejust yet!

If you've never ridden one of the bigger bikes before, give yourself a couple hours of practice before you hit the freeway.

I did the rental thing about a month ago with a Heritage.
And here's the thing- Nice smooth riding bike. The seat though........SUCKS!!! Factory issue seat on the Heritage blows goats IMO. I did about 600miles in one day and both I and the lil'woman could hardly lift our leg to get off. FYI.

I borrowed a buddys heritage for a 200 mile poker run last year and took my wife with me............all I've heard since then is how we need a bigger bike. We just did 900 miles over 3 days on the sporty and I have to admit it would get pretty cramped being on the back of the sporty for that long. I throw a windsield and sundowner on for these longer trips, but she'd still rather be ona heritage. Not sure about you, but your wife would probably have a more enjoyable trip on the heritage.
