So every time I start my Harley the valves seem really loose but when my motor is hot they seem tight not much noise I don't know too much I don't know what motor I have but I have a 2000 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 and I've been doing a little research and some motors have an auto adjusting lifters if I'm right

That's perfectly normal . In fact it's described in the owners handbook. You have to give the hydraulic lifters time to fill up . I'll photograph the relevant passage and post it in a moment . Watch this space . . Here you go , paragraph two .

Unfortunately unlike the car industry with hydraulic tappets the HD version is pretty noisy all the time. There is a modification called rocker lockers that will really quiet them down.
