I have a Sundowner on my ride.It is just liking sitting in my favorite comfy chair.I have no problems hitting the twisties and being able to move body position while riding.
I have a Sundowner on my Sportster too, but after about 200 miles my tailbone is starting to get sore. Not really sore sitting on the bike, but when I stop and stand up it really hurts.
Yeah mine has a little gap too near the tank but I knew that going in. I am curious how your mustang seat will be. Keep us posted.
The Mustang seat is pretty comfortable tho I have not taken it on a long ride yet and I think it looks pretty good. Now my back was killing me with how back and higher the seat puts you and the forward controls I installed. Definitely going to get new bars.
ive been through at least a dozen seats. the lepera was comfortable until you went over 55, over 55 you end up sliding back onto the hump, not very comfortable anymore. I did a 200 mile run, rode on the hump most of the trip.
the mustang is by far the most comfortable seat ive owned for the 48. ive done 800 mile days on it with no *** numbness or *** bone pain whenever I got off or on. also no sliding back on the seat.

My 2009 1200L came with a Mustang solo seat, which was OK. I switched it out for a HD Sundowner 2-up and has made all the difference! I also switched out the original L handlebars to aftermarket "night" sized handlebars, such a difference all around!!!

Bare Bones for me. I can sit on that thing all day, every day, and not get sore. July 25 - 29, I went from Toronto to Virginia/West Virginia/Tennessee/Kentucky with a friend and fellow Sportster owner. 3,200 kms total only because he couldn't go without breaks even with a Sundowner. Me, I could have doubled that distance and been fine. Point is, we are all different and there is no best seat for everyone. You either get lucky with the first one, or it's an expensive trial and error process.
On a side note, some amazing roads down there. The Snake, Back of the Dragon (didn't make it to the tail because he couldn't), 250, 50, 119. I need to go back.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Update on my seat. Swapped out the bare bones for a mustang tripper (bought on this forum) and I’m really loving it so far. For me the bare bones was awesome and better than stock and the mustang is another notch more comfortable. All day rides are not a problem now.

Here are some comparison pics.
Glad it worked out! Comfort is key, seat looks great. These seats can go from bad to worse fast on the wallet, especially if one starts considering bar changes to compensate too.
