Thanks handirifle for your suggestions with boxing in and supporting the front hook mount! G.B.

No, the seat pan does not touch the fender just hovers over it as it sits on the original part of the frame and new seat loop. I am going to weld a couple mounting tabs to the inside of the seat loop and then weld (2) bolts to the seat pan that would drop thru the tabs. I need mock this up to make sure it is possible to use studs on the seat pan with the angle and rotation for loading and removing the seat. Worst case I will weld nuts to the seat pan and then use bolts up thru the mounting tabs and thread into the seat. Using weld nuts on the seat pan would be a blind operation when installing the seat. Not impossible but a little slower and a little more difficult. G.B.

Interesting on the steel pan. Would really like to see what they end up doing. I can only reference from seats I have redone on old bikes and quads.
I get it now on the tabs for the hold down bolts. For some reason before I could not picture in my head (too much garbage flopping around in there, I guess) what you were describing. I do now.
On the suggestion, happy to be able to offer any assistance, no matter how miniscule.

Playing around with seat thickness today. Hoping to get the seat pan to the upholstery shop this week if they are still open and I want to be able to tell him how thick to make the seat? Kind of hard to get a good view of the seat thickness differences with all my crap behind the bike. I think I am going to go with the 2 1/2" seat thickness which is the thickest I was considering. I want the top of the seat to be in a line with the bottom of the gas tank. G.B.
2" thick
2 1/4" Thick
2 1/2" thick

2 1/2" thick

whylee I made up a 2 3/4" tall seat template as I thought it was a good suggestion worth checking out. Still leaning towards the 2 1/2" but the 2 3/4" doesnt look too bad?
2 1/2"
2 3/4"
I welded rear mounting tabs on the seat loop and a couple bolts on the seat pan tonight. This works out great and makes a clean simple seat install. So all I need to do tomorrow is spray paint the seat pan and then call to see if my upholstery guy is still working and if I can drop off the pan? G.B.
