I paid $1200 for my '02 883, wasn't running when I bought it. Thankfully I guessed right and all it needed was a new cam trigger sensor to run. Now she rips! $500 for an assembled non runner is crazy low! Lucky them.

Ps what is that 2-1 exhaust on that Sporty pic in your signature? Looks absolutely sick! Just the type of exhaust I'm looking for. Edit: NVM, read through the thread and saw that you said they're RSD V&H 2-1 pipes. Sick build! Can't wait to see more of it.

Yea when the time comes for bike number 2, I will have to make some choices. Either a touring bike, if momma wants to ride with me, (I hope she does) or a scrambler/dual sport if she doesn't.

If I do go the scrambler route, no doubt I will have to broaden my search to even make the project affordable. Its a funny thing that happens to cash flow when you are retired. LOL.

Thank You. I have made a few changes since those pics. I went with a low 2 into 1 exhaust to stop the leg burning. Also progressive 490 shocks, chain drive conversion and Galfer wave rotors.

Thanks, I really like the XR style I had, but man was it hot on the leg, and the heat rising up in city riding was bad.

Oh I can see that. I might see something similar with my Tracker exhaust? My right ankle is going to be right up against the exhaust which is going to be warm. I have been wondering how I can move the right side foot peg out an 1" or 2? Haven't come with a way to do that yet. G.B.

Getting close to finishing up the seat pan. All I have left are to weld a couple of bolts to the pan and some mounting tabs to the seat loop near the rear of the seat. I am thinking I might have to trim the front hook mounting hole once I have the seat covered to fine tune the fit of the seat. Yeah, my welds still suck. I am getting good penetration so it will be fine. You wont see any of this as it will be covered with foam and vinyl so I didn't spend much time even cleaning up the welds. I found a local upholstery shop that does custom motorcycle seats who quoted me $175 to do this seat. Doesnt seem too bad. G.B.

I boxed in the front mounting hook hole in the seat pan. It should be more than strong enough and with a couple of 1/4' or M6 bolts to hold the rear of seat down it wont be going anywhere.

I know this is a little late, but this thought just occurred to me. Most seats have the cover stapled to the seat pan, but they are not metal. How are they going to attach the cover to the seat pan?

I like what you did with the front cover. Looks good.
