Battery connector molten
Hey guys,
I recently installed a new battery on my '13 Forty-Eight. Yesterday I was about to go for a ride and the engine started to cut out every couple seconds. I checked the battery and found that one of the connectors had melted:
Does anyone know what happened here and how I can make sure it won't happen again?

What he said, with that type of battery you need a spacer between the power connectors and the terminal. Without it the cable does not get tightened all the way up to the terminal.as it wiggles it arcs, the more it arcs the more it melts the terminal.
At this point you need a new battery. If it doesn't come with spacers you need to get some or use some washers stacked up.

I don't think you need a new battery just yet . If you fabricated a piece of steel with two bends and a hole in it and carefully filed away some of the melted bits I think you might be able to salvage it . It's worth a go . Looking at it again , you could also make a 90 degree adapter from a strip of steel and use the hole in the top of the battery post . If you are feeling really creative you could build a little wooden mould around it , protect the battery with aluminium foil and pour some molten lead into the cavity . You can melt lead in a spoon on a domestic cooker by the way .

^^^^^^^ This right here!!! I had that happen to me but not as bad.....The batteries come with spacers that look like thick washers..USE them!
