Default Knee replacement and riding

Just got a complete knee replacement 3 weeks ago cleared to drive already by PT, my knee is already at 120 degrees. Been back to Cross fit and digging holes for a fence too. I’m ready to ride but the powers that be(wife) say no not yet. Any body out there pushed early to ride after a surgery ?

Yeah , I had minor abdominal surgery and I was ordered to rest for three weeks. It was painful and awkward to walk and I was reduced to shuffling along bent double for the first week . Didn't stop me riding a bike though ! I absolutely draw the line at using public transport and I've never learned to drive a car .

RIP had hers 9-11-19. Going strong.

One of my old work buddies who is still working had his done about 4 years ago. He drives very agressive and it caught up with him. 35 mph 4 lane leads out of town from work.

Someone stoped in right lane. Everyone starts moving left. Typical bumper to bumper 4 o'clock traffic. He stays on it till they jumped in front of him. Of course, he's telling me its all their fault while he shows me his pictures.

Smashed all his left toes, shattered his leg below the striker knee. Broke his arm, shoulder and collar bone. Three operations and out of work 6 months. He has 15 pounds of screws, plates, wire and such.

Knee did not need replaced. Now if they could just come up with metal from the ankle to the hip replacements.

I am thinking they gave you the go for the cage. Driving a motorcycle 3 weeks after a full knee is a bit soon. You really don't want to catch yourself on a bike on that knee.

Full knee replacement about 6 months ago, feeling close to normal now. I think it was about 8 weeks before I felt confident I could take the weight of the bike if need be. I got on and tested in the garage by seeing how far down I could lay it on the bad side and still press it back up with the new knee. Good Luck! It will get better.

I rode after 5 weeks. Started therapy 3 days after surgery. I really didn’t lose the strength I thought I would. Strength training everyday is the key. I don’t think I will bounce back from upcoming rotator cuff surgery though from what they tell me. You’ll know when your ready if you’ve been true to your rehab and have the right physical therapist.

Sure you could ride now.
The risk is another injury to that same knee before you have 100% healed.
Physics....two wheel bikes tip over.

A co-member above started 6 months till they felt almost 100%.
Age and recovery time could be a factor.
Only you, with doctor review I suppose, will know when you are 100%.

Some say, "Happy wife/ happy life."

Good luck in your decision.
