Default Front Fenders - Evo Sportster

Hey everyone,
So my 2000 XLH1200 sporty has a fender I’ve only ever been able to find on one picture on the internet, and was hoping someone might know something about it.
There are cutouts on the sides of the front fender when all others I’ve seen don’t have these. (b&w pic is more current, color pic is day I bought it with a better look at the fender)

Yep , this is a generic aftermarket fender , one size fits all , drill to fit . When I was in the motorcycle accessories business I sold dozens of these . It doesn't look too bad and it's certainly lighter than the original which is solid steel . Well it is on my 2004 XL. I think in the picture of the blue bike it's actually on backwards . EDIT : Well I've just been online and I can't find anything like it either . I definitely remember selling these but perhaps I should add that it was at least 18 years ago . They were GRP and available in wide and narrow styles .

Yeah, it does look like it is on backwards. Mine has been on over 10 years.

You think mine is on backwards? Here’s the pic I found online and it’s on the same way as mine. Guy I bought it from was a mechanic too.

Looking at it backwards to mine but who says mine is right, seeing the front on mine at the rear in your picture looks right also.

Who cares ? Looks great . That's a great photo by the way . An XL R but with chrome cases and swing arm and a tax disc which dates the photo to 2014 or earlier . Have you still got it ? I've just bought a 2004 XL 1200 R myself.

Well it's purely a matter of taste but I would probably put the slightly longer end towards the engine .

Looks good either way, but the longer portion normally goes twords the front, unless you have the dragger type.
