RE: Ignition Switch or Kill Switch
I'd find new riding buddies. If they know this little about the operation of a bike how safe can you be riding around them? To answer your question, yes, you can use the kill switch to shut the bike off even in a non-emergency. In fact, it is recommended but do what you like.

Why is it the safest...I find myself leaving the ignition on and possibly killing the battery if I use the kill switch... I use ignition and pull the key...habit and I don't kill the battery...

RE: Ignition Switch or Kill Switch
I just love to find someone who uses the key to kill their Bike, when I see Kill switches in the On or Run postion, I flip 'em to off, Funny as hell watchin Riders get on their Bike hit the key and NOTHIN"!!!!! hahahahahhahhaha Funny as hell!
It is safest to use the kill switch, you can turn the engine of with both hands on the bars and both feet on the ground. It also creates the memory of where that switch is if ya ever need it.

RE: Ignition Switch or Kill Switch
I am just a RUB, but I learned from real bikers that it is hands off other bikes unless you are invited..out of respect for the owner. I haven't lost my sense of humor...for the most part anyway...I know it would be pretty funny ifYOUR jiffy stand was adjusted by someone so that it was almost down...or swapping turn signal leads would be a real scream...the question and all four answers...on/off/all the above/none of the above was answered a while ago in this thread and aton like it...
I think the question was valid and sincere. If the search function was not used this was the best remaining thing to do...askhere, or go to the manual.
What I don't want to happen is have someone learn it is OK to touch other bikes without an invitation from the owner, even if your sense of humor is keener than mine.
So I guess I stealth hijacked the thread

I don't recall ****** saying he did this to a total strangers bike. I certainly wouldn't. But I will do it to friends bikes. Ya know, riding buddies. With an attitude like that, you probably know nothing about those. And that is TOTALLY different than messing with a kickstand, or rewiring the lights.....GEEZE.
