Default Engine knock

Just rebuilt top end of my 1994 sportster 1200. Runs great but knocking sound from engine. Cyclinders were bored and valves redone at machine shop. Knock is barely noticeable in neutral but when you put in gear and take of it gets worse. Any advice. Also noticed after only a few miles after rebuild oil in intake when I took off carb.

You sure you didn't mix up the push rods? they are different lengths.

Pick up a cheap stethoscope from harbour freight and see if you can pinpoint where the knock is coming from.

Maybe a wrist pin clip on the front piston not installed properly?
