Default Sportster 883 2008 kickstarter

I have an Sportster 883xl standard 2008. i look to put a kickstart conversion kit on there but as far as i look the origional brands have only for sportsters till 2004 and the remakes on ebay and so those fit 2004 to 2017 sportsters

Is this even possible?

You will have to remove your engine and split the cases to get to your transmission. The older bikes had a trap door to get to the trans. I believe that was 2003 and earlier. yours doesn't .

Electric starters have been around since the 1912 Cadillac. What's the point? Even most dirtbikes are 100% electric start today.

I'm not installing one but could see it being worthwhile if you were building an ultra light Sportster, deleting the starter and going with a small lithium battery would save a lot of weight. That being said my Norton Commando is kick start only and the novelty of kick starting wears off REAL quick ;-)

Yeah I rode a 1964 Pan Head kick start only back in the day. I probably couldn't start it today at my age. Cool wears off quickly.
