Default Risk of fire when putting cover on?

Hey guys,
I'm in the habit of putting my HD cover on everytime i get back from a ride. I do this even when the pipes are hot. Is there a risk of fire by putting my cover on when the bike's pipes/motor are still hot? I usually wait about five minutes then put it on.

I don't thing so. My cover had the heat shields built in (silver lining at bottom of cover). The worse you could be looking at is melting the cover.

Just out of caution, I would wait a bit longer. Covering to quickly cantrap heat and possible fumes under the cover. Also, depending on the humidity, the trapped heatcould cause condensation to form under the cover. Just my .02

I think you're safe but as cHarley said, I would probably wait a little longer. Sometimes residue can be hard to get off the pipes.

It won't catch fire but it may stick to the pipes.

And 5 minutes isn't long enough for my bike to cool down, don't know about yours in your area so YMMV
