I have an 07 XL883L with a stock seat and am thinking about changing seats due to ironbutt on long rides. How difficult/easy is it to switch between the stock seat on shorter rides and say "sundowner" seat for longer rides. I like the stock seat lines and also worry about decreasing my reach to the ground of a sundowner. I'm going to assume it is fairly easy, take a screw off, push seat off????? Thanks for the assistance.

I don't have a sundowner but I have a mustang solo seat and it's simple to swap them out. I use the solo seat by myself but if anyone wants to ride with me I switch back to the stock seat.

 

Takes about five minutes, if you drink a beer before putting the other seat on. Otherwise, about a minute.

 

One screw, push the seat forward and take it off. Reverse for the re-install.

And I'll be REALLY surprised if you go back to the stock seat after a ride on the Sundowner. I agree the bike looks better with the stock, but the Sundowner is a dream!!
