Default Fuel flowing from carb.

I think I have a stuck float on the carb of my wife's 1998 1200 Sportster. Less than a minute after starting it, fuel runs out of the tube at the base on the bowl and from the intake as well. It floods and stalls. I already replaced the petcock a few weeks ago because fuel was dripping out while it was not running. I have the carb removed and am about to disassemble it but want to first see if anyone has any insights or suggestions. I don't have a manual for the carb, or even a diagram so I'm a bit hesitant to tear into it.
Thanks.

Remove the float bowl and clean it. Most likely when the gasket deteriorated in the Petcock a piece got into the fuel line and into the bowl.
OR
Your float has a hole in it (very unlikely, but possible)

What he said.

And the carb isn't that tough to take apart, plenty of video's on YouTube and diagrams on the internet.

If the petcock was leaking, most likely on the vacuum diaphragm, look at it. If you see a white spot where it burned through its most likely too much ethanol in gas. Especially after it sits for longer than 90 days. Probably need to rebuild the carb and replace all the seal and needle valve. Ethanol will do this

As mentioned, clean the bowl, replace or clean the float needle and be sure it is seated properly, and adjust the float to be sure it stops where it is supposed to.

Thanks all for the replies. The bowl was quite dirty. Runs great again.
