That vent is one way in, in the cap.. From inside tank, it is closed.
Does it have the vent hose out attached to the tank? Should be able to see it on bottom up front. It is routed to back of bike. There is a one way resistant valve out that should be mounted verticle near end of hose. That resistant built into it keeps raw fuel from being dumped into vent hose when you brake. When the bike sits, and heat builds pressure in tank, it vents vapor out that resistant valve.
