Default Anyone fitted a springer front end to their Forty Eight

Hi to the Forum

I’m in England and we don’t see many springer front end conversions here and though I’ve been riding for 30 years neither have I tried one.
i’m thinking of fitting a blacked out springer front end to my 2015 Forty Eight, from Moto Iron, a US firm who sell their kits on eBay - a link is here
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F163383468135
Our roads are generally ok but not anywhere near as good as the roads I rode in the Mid-West & West coast of the USA back in 2006 on a Roadking. Potholes are quite a feature in some towns and cities here.

What advice do forum members have; should I go ahead or will this be an expendive regret?

Cheers
Steve (near Brighton, England)

Personally, I think your 48 is too modern to place a spring fork even if you put ww on it , it does not make the bike more beautiful but as always beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

As we speak I am working on a hardtail build, I use a springer fork because it is a hardtail, fits better together I think.

Short answer: Yes

Before you spend your money: Research, research and research again. There are good ones out there and some dangerous ones being sold.

Good luck!

Hi - thanks guys - with just those replies and that view of the Forty Eight with the springer front end just doesn’t look right - I think it maybe how the headlight has been mounted but whatever, I now prefer my own existing front end which is standard except just a different headlight grill, Coker/Firestone 5x16 and no front fender. Can’t think why I didn’t google a Forty Eight with springer front end before. Thanks for the warning too - I had heard that some springer fabrications are very dubious/suspect/dangerous.

its a shame because I like the look on other bikes but it must be like you say, that they suit hardtails and choppers better. Thanks! Piece of mind restored!

I think those pictures don't do it justice. You can see some springers however lower headlight mounts. They would look much better on a 48.

Google them like you mentioned. I think you can find them with different headlight mounts.

Everyone does what they want, its your bike but a Springer would always looks better on a hardtail or softail ... looks like the natural habitat

This is a 2010 Forty Eight and he can do the Springer justice but he had a radical conversion and is by far the only Forty that I like with a Springer
no matter were the headlight is placed. All credits to CDC Custom.

I gotta say that does look better in all aspects.
Back in two minds again but still thinking stock forks at present.
