Jeans, Mesh jacket, OlympiaVentor gloves, 3/4 helmet. A lot of times I do away with the gloves, and on some occasions do away with the jacket, and just go with a shirt, depending on where, how far, and the route.

How does a mesh jacket compare to a t-shirt as far as temp?


I've been thinking about getting a HD on to ride in, but I don't want to burn up.

 

I love wearing my leathers even in the heat. It keeps the sun off my skin, and the air flows through the vents. I also wear a full face, knee high boots, gloves, full-length denim. =)

BTW it's only 76 degrees (off and on sun) in San Diego. Heehee....

I still don't see what distance has to do with what you wear.....I was 15 seconds away from home,when a dog ran into me,It was more my reaction that brought me down rather than the impact......I was going through a time of not wearing gloves,lost all the skin on my palm with some deep cuts.....and the back of my helmet took a big impact with the road.....I always wear my leathers now.
Regarding helmets.....before It was law enforced In the U.K,..I've heard some horror stories,such as a guy who's head split like a walnut and his brain skipping down the road!......Have a nice day!

Same as 128AUTO, nylon mesh jacket with Kevlar pads in shoulders and elbows. With a tank top or shoulderless T-shirt it cools down real quick. I never wear shorts, either. Always long jeans and ankle boots.

 

I broke down and bought a HD mesh jacket w/body armor today, for a four-hour ride through the desert. It was surprisingly cool on the ride.

 

I agree with you. 'Youth' is wasted on the young.

 

It is sunny and hot here every day. I always wear a long sleeve white shirt, long pants and boots along with my helmet and 1/2 gloves.

I am amazed that the white shirt actually keeps me cooler than going without it.
