I maybe wrong, but that’s what the long shots are. I’m pretty sure the shorts are the same for 91-03 bikes.
No "may be" about it. You're wrong. They're stepped.

First, don't confuse the straightshots with the sideshots or shortshots. The straightshots are like the longshots only staggered and not quite as long. Just like the common drag pipes actually. 1 3/4" header pipe stepped up to a 2" muffler body as you call it.

I think the pro street is the only 3 step. I had considered them but didn't care for the bloated look at the end. Also not sure if the 3 step is any better or worse performance or sound wise and, if I'm not mistaken, they end up side by side. That was definitely a no go for me.

Another good thing about the full heatshield is no discoloration.

i prefer the color of a pipe thats gold, purple and blue. The raw finish and golden color of stainless is my favorite.

Fwiw the two best performing pipes I’ve ever run where both stepped 1.75, 2, 2.25 into a collector 🤷🏽*♂️

Hammer Performance has done extensive testing of exhaust pipes on a dyno. There's a list on their site with the results. The Patriot Defender is at the top.
I was looking for a 2-2 with the best sound and appearance (subjective to taste) that performed satisfactorily with the large overlap (56°) of the Hammer 570 cams.
The sideshots do surprisingly ok for short pipes with no baffles because of a collector. Way loud tho and right along side you.
