Default A northener got to ride today

But I had to go to Tenn to do it. Didn't have time to check out the Tail of the Dragon again, had to settle for the many nice roads north of Knoxville on Saturday afternoon. I didn't see any other motorcycles on the road, and very few cars on the curvy back roads. It was around 46 and sunny, at least for a couple of hours.
Anybody else get to ride today in the northern half of the country?

Snowed pretty heavy in most of the mountains so riding would not have been possible. Cherohala looked to have at least 6 inches on the roads from pictures posted by Killboy.

Wow, good thing I didn't try to ride down there. I mainly rode around the Norris Lake areas, was almost to the start of the Devil's Triangle when time ran out before a family event.

I wouldn’t worrie to much about getting to the Dragon this time of year you have plenty of time to enjoy that part of the country later in warmer days. Very Beautiful up there plan a another trip with better weather Good Luck Ride Safe

You can find the pictures on Killboy's sight and live cams of Tail of the Dragons site. I would have posted some pics but since this site doesn't allow copyrighted photos I can't show you. The Dragon itself didn't look to have snow but everywhere else seemed to.

I've been out the past two days, temps here in Indiana have been in the mid 30*F range both days. In the 100 or so miles I've ridden the past couple of days, I passed one other bike yesterday, none today.

Oh I wasn't expecting anything. I just had to go to Tenn anyway for a Christmas celebration, and saturday happened to be decent enough weather in the afternoon to get in some riding time, provided I bundled up. I have an orange full jumpsuit designed for snowmobile riding, + a neck scarf, full face helmet, boots and gloves. Even so, now that I'm older, I generally don't like to ride in temps below 60 most of the time. Maybe if I get heated gear I'll do more cold weather riding. I don't need to ride the Dragon anymore to have a good ride, I've done it many times now. .There are plenty of other interesting places to ride or go to in Tenn.

The first time I rode the Dragon it was just before the more or less official riding season, the trees hadn't leafed out yet and the temps were in the low 60's, perfectly comfortable with a full face helmet and well padded. Only saw two other bikes there at the time. Killboy wasn't there taking pictures, nor was there some long parade of bikes in front of me or behind me. You could see someone coming around the curves due to no leaves. It was great.
