My brother and I had a '59. No, they weren't fast. Heavy, yes. Fast, no. At least not compared to a Bonneville or BSA Lightning.

My riding buddy had a '64 XLCH. He couldn't have weighed much more than 125 pounds, and he finally settled on the best way to get it started: hang on to the outside rearview mirror of a car and get towed up to speed, and then drop the clutch.

He did, however, pull the slipons and the air cleaner, and ran a 12.95 at 107. Not bad!

I'd love to find a '56 KH, which is the final model of the 750 flathead K model, bumped up to 883 and OHV. I'd have better luck finding an original EL.
