It's a spring loaded clip that fits over the post with a screw in it to lock it down. Afraid to torque it down because it seems kind flimsy.

This is my ride. 2006 XL883L bored out so it's a XL1200L. Live in Michigan and been riding since the end of last February. Haven't been able to ride in a couple of months due to the cold and snow. Been thinking about her a lot lately. Want to swap out triple trees to put a larger front tire to give it the 48 look. Also a larger gas tank

Loctite is your friend when you own an HD. Blue, in this case.

Tighten it well. Loose battery connections can be more than one problem. Don't just snug it. It should not be coming loose.

my button fly 501's come loose more than my battery cables.......tighten those bolts up
