HD security system question

HD security system question
So I posted on here a few months ago that I might be "inheriting" a Sportster and I finally have it. 2007 Custom. Previous owner (relative) bought it from a used car dealer. At some point, original owner disabled the fob system by unplugging a connection next to the battery. My main question is...is it that simple? This thing is never going to bother me again if I don't need it? I'm just wanting to make sure that if/when I change the battery, it's not going to screw something up.
Second question...what would I do if I decided I wanted to reactivate the system? It didn't come w/ a fob. Is that something I need to go to the HD dealer about???

Around the time that bike was made security was an option, so there is no certainty it ever had it. If you go to the H-D website and the Owners tab you may be able to use your VIN to find out if it definitely had security. You can also download an owners manual, which should help with operating the security on a bike of that age. An FSM will tell you even more about the security system, but that involves spending some cash, although it should show wiring, connectors etc.

If you have the HD factory alarm system operational on your bike you would normally see a red key symbol LED flashing in your speedometer display. For the original owner to disable it would not usually involve disconnecting a block connector.
HD produced two modules for your year. A turn signal security module (TSSM) that had the option of operating as both the turn signal module and an integrated security system if turned on. The other option was a plain turn signal module (TSM) which had no security feature to it.
It might be an aftermarket alarm system on your bike that has been disabled but without seeing the connector and wires going to it that you are mentioning it is difficult to confirm. Is it possible to take a picture or two of the general area of this disconnected block connector and another showing the colour of the wires going into it.
Also, is the flashing LED you see hanging loose or mounted onto something? Is it possible to follow the wires from it to the area it connects into the wiring loom?

Man relax. I wasn't asking y'all to play a guessing game. My main question was answered. I was just throwing in the last bit. I obviously don't have a factory system and that was my main concern, that I was going to screw up something trying to change out a battery or something. I'll start another thread at some point over the other connectors. They aren't hurting anything, evidently.
