Default Windshield glare on hi beam

So yesterday I had my first opportunity to ride at night, and noticed when the hi beam is on there is a butt load of glare on my HD quick detach windshield. I did some reading and found some old threads on the topic. I looked for an extended bezel for the headlight. Found one that is 1 1/8" wide.

Wondering if this would be enough to eliminate the glare? The light actually travels up the shield like a fiber optic and the entire edge of the shield glows. Very annoying and distracting, and probably dangerous because I live in the country and deer and other critters frequent the road, day or night.

Also saw a bolt on shield from HD that obviously sits well back of the headlight ring. Am sure that would stop the problem.

Here is a pic to see what I am describing. What I do not know, is when they say the windshield is 18" is that width or height?

The quick detach is nice to clean the front, but can't stand that glare. Suggestions?

The cutout part of the windshield should be flush with the headlight ring. Possible to adjust the windshield back?

What about putting some black or chrome pin stripe on the edge all around the headlight area to keep the light from getting in there?

Or something like this? I used a similar thing in chrome to finish the edge of my cut rear fender, it is sold as car door edge guard.

Memphis Shades put something similar on theirs-

When I was adjusting this windshield, I could move it forward or back slightly in the mount points. Too far forward and there was a bit of glare.

Ok great ideas. Not sure if adjustable but will look. The trim is a good idea too. I didnt find it before but found a chrome trim hood for the headlight so maybe all things combined will stop the glare. Will post results.

As far as I can tell there is no adjustment in the windshield or the QD mounts. I cannot tell if there is any adjustment for the headlight itself, mainy because I cannot find where it connects to the bike. At the top?

The windshield on my XL1200T doesn't follow the shape of the part just above the headlight. I can't say I have noticed what you are experiencing.
(picture attachment didn't work)

Have you tried moving the shield up a bit?

That's interesting. I have a SuperLow with a genuine H-D qd windshield, but mine doesn't extend in front of the headlight bracket like yours does, so I don't suffer that problem. The cutout in my shield, where it surrounds the headlamp, would rest on that bracket if I let it.

Just get the visor or a French Ring
You need to block the light from being behind the windshield.
