I might have missed it in all the messages, but have you tried putting black construction paper on the bottom 1/3 of your shield, just as a proof of concept?
Looks like your're making progress. I sure understand why you want to get rid of the "fiber optic" effect going on there. That's wild. (and not in a good way)

Yea if you look in the middle area of this thread you will see progressive pics of various ideas to stop the glare. Yes wild, not in a good way is right.

I did just try to reverse the clamps and that doesn't work at all.

Ok got brave today. Hope I don't regret this, but I think it will work out. Will NOT be able to use all 4 QD mounts, sadly. I will use the top ones.

Odd. I am uploading pics but they are not showing up??? There we go. Top pic shows one of the brackets I cut on. Removed upper mount and cut a slot for new one. Might be too high. I ma weld the piece back in and cut a lower one. Also will have to fab a clamp for the lower connection, as I don't see any way to make the QDs work on the bottom, sadly.

The lower pic shows the new closer setting. I might be ablecto get it a littl closer, not sure. Cables are starting to interfere.

These pics show original shape of bracket and another angle shot of the new location.

I found this at JP so might go this route for the bottom.

Thinking out loud! Consider cutting off the upper U mounting slot, then creating a fresh one level with the L bracket above it (or below in your photo). Cut off the bottom mounting and redrill at the appropriate distance below the new U mount. Would be worth tracing the current mounts onto paper or card, so you can play around a little with seeing where the 'new' mounting points can end up, also how much rearwards they will move the shield.

Isn't it going to be terribly vertical after this change? Are you sure it won't act like a giant sail in front of you?
