Default St Augustine here

Hello. Just bought 2sportsters. Love them. I have a 2005 883R carb and a 2009 883 low with only 115 miles. I want to do a 1200 conversion but don’t know which one to do. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome aboard from Miami, FL
I'd go with the Hammer performance 1250 all day long and twice on Sunday.

Edit: The 883 gearing along with the 1250 kit equals a fast machine. Upgrade the sprocket so the engine doesn't scream to much at high speeds.
Have fun building that Sporty!

Would you upgrade the 883r carb or the 09 EFI?

That's funny ... that's the way I read your Original Post, but I can see how others could interpret the question differently

Get the Hammer 1275 kit. I would use it on the carbed bike. Just my opinion. Reason being the EFI is more complicated. But Hammer probably has experience and
instructions for the EFIs too.

I was thinking the same thing. Is it an easy process? Do I need to change cams?

I'd probably upgrade the 2009 EFI. Get the competition valve job. Cams will be included as well as a high performance clutch and other goodies. Contact Hammer performance. They will be able to guide you through everything.

Baker Drivetrain has a 6 speed transmission for the 05 and one in development for the 09. (If you really want to go nuts)

Two bikes ...both with only 115 miles ...seems odd

Anyways ... How 'bout this perspective...

Right now the 883R only "looks" like it should be faster/quicker than 883L
