Default Cosmetic ideas?

Hey my fellow sportster enthusiast! I have almost everything done mechanically that I wanted/needed. Now it's time for cosmetics. I'm at a stand still because the bike is black cherry in color. Chrome or not to chrome. I was curious on what you guys would do. I know its personal preference but I like ideas from others. Gets the creative juices going. Thanks! BTW it's not leaking oil. I just did 1250 conversion and put cardboard down just incase haha.

I’m not a big chrome guy. I have a sportster 72 and that came stock with a lot of chrome. I changed a lot and most everything is black now besides the engine. I was going to paint that as well but I actually like the contrast now. It’s all personal preference for sure.

Cool

Ride it as it is for now - take customising things steadily! What you have there at present is a bit like a Q-ship - a standard bike with a hidden secret - go hunting!

Only thing I don't like about those years model is the riser. I'd do new risers and 10-12" chrome mini apes and be done with it.

I would get the oil tank & air cleaner painted to match the gas tank & fenders.
Take it slow and look at a lot of other bikes to see what you like.
Above all keep it clean & simple

Looks great to me as it is. I'm not big on spending money for customizing stuff. Save my money for the next big thing

I never liked the front fenders, I prefer more of a wrap around style like the one I installed below.

The advice I got when I bought my bike was pick a theme and stick with it. For me its a long range plan so every year the bike gets a little more unique. I like black cut away and black leather. I decided I wanted it look dangerous so it has sharp points that are shinny aluminum or stainless cutouts on black powder coat. And most of the parts have a story behind them cause I like make my own. Or picked them up from so friend or a really good ride. So that's just me. I'd say ride a little and get the grand vision and then work to that end. There are a lot details on a bike, and after you have main parts you start to focus on the finer details. That's where I started wishing I had done a few things different in the beginning, I have 4 seats and 3 handle bars.
But nothing wrong with having a sleeper either. what kind of 1250 kit did you go with? I'm about to take the conversion plunge myself this winter.

Thanks for all of the great responses. I went with the hammer 1250. I can not say enough about the new upgrade. It has definitely made a big difference in power. I am still in break in period so I haven't got on it yet, but I can definitely feel the extra power. Also, Dan at hammer performance was awesome. He answered every question every time I called.
