Looks are subjective, the majority of any version of the 1200 is the same, but 04 brought rubber mounting, 07 brought fuel injection, 16 brought new canbus wiring harness, better suspension and brakes. How often do you like to stop and pump gas? You have the 2.2 on 48's and 72's, 3.3 on nightsters, older customs, and newer Roadsters, and 4.5 on customs and older Roadsters. The 48 and 72 and nightsters have slammed harsh 11" suspension, the customs have higher, slightly better suspension, and the roadsters have high suspension for better cornering clearance. Of course some inexpensive progressive 12.5" shocks and a mustang touring seat will transform most models. For the last handful of years the customs have come with further forward mids that when combined with mini floorboards made my 13 very comfortable along with afore mentioned seat and shocks. 6k can get you a nice sporty if patient.

Well it sounds like I can make it any way I want depending how much I want to spend. My preference is get one as close to what I want to begin with. The customs seem pretty close but I do want the 4 gal tank. Will prob end up with a mini road king

The XR1200X ergonomics are actually more like a Cruiser than they are a Supersport.

Likewise on the geometry. A typical Supersport has about a 55" wheelbase and about 24 degrees of rake- the XR1200X has a 59" wheelbase and 29 degrees of rake.

Try it out- you might like it.

Ok I am looking at a 1200 Low tomorrow. It's a 2007 with 14k on it. Asking 4500 which is middle of KBB, well 4300 is actually middle. It is bone stock except for the 2 up seat and back rest. Also has HD alarm with 2 Fobs. It does not LOOK as low as most lows I see online.

according to specs the ground clearance is about 4.5" does this sound right? Is there a way to gain a little more, like with slightly taller rear shocks. I sometimes drive down dirt roads where I and friends live and don't want to bottom out.

Other than that it looks in excellent condition, so am hopeful.
I will post after tomorrow for an update.

Roadster length 13.25" shocks will raise the rear and for many bikes changing the damper tubes in the forks will raise the front...but I don't know for sure if that is the case with this one specifically. Ronnies HD parts finder is a great resource for figuring out parts differences at
http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc
These people sell damper tubes to raise the front

Looking at craigslist within about 200 mi radius of me, the only bikes cheaper are 2003-2004 models. A 2013 like yours is about 8-9K here. I wish that were not the case but it is.

I have a SuperLow, bought new. What I found is that ride quality was poor and the forks especially. I improved ride quality a little by using longer shocks and lifting the forks as they sagged too much. I won't be the only Low or SuperLow owner who has done that! I now have a Super-not-so-Low and can supply more details if you like.

That would explain why he has the thicker 2 up seat on it I bet. If I get this one I will be checking in with ya about this.
