Screeching noise coming from clutch/primary when shifting into first
I had a new clutch installed by my local shop around two months ago; however, right after I left the shop, I noticed this high pitched screeching sound when shifting into first, I usually don't hear the noise in the other gears. I figured I would give it a few weeks to see if it would settle down but it has not gone away. If I release the clutch slowly I wont hear it, and I don't dump the clutch either. It makes the noise when the clutch starts to bite. I brought it back to the shop and they adjusted the clutch cable and the chain tension, but I'm still hearing the noise. The mechanic said the next step would be to take the whole thing apart, does anybody have any other suggestions before he takes it apart?
Thank you

They were carbon friction plates, I think from Alto, I'm still waiting to hear back and confirm from the mechanic. https://www.jpcycles.com/product/630...pak-clutch-kit

It's supposedly not harmful, except to your ears and your nerves. Seems to be related to removal of the spring plate assembly.
It would be nice to know if the carbon or kevlar are more likely to squeal. I don't know if you can use the same oil for both and keep that constant.
Looks like Apache Snow has tried both, with better results on the Kevlar plates. However, maybe some others have experience with one or the other and can chime in.

I did the Energy One and have the same squeal on moderate take off. Super annoying but not enough for me to take apart and reassemble to see if it goes away.
BUT,....the Energy One does rip thru the gears like a champ. Hitting 2nd and 3rd hard at the right rpm is a real kick in the a$$!
