Default New Tires

I have a 2000 Sporty 883. I tried looking for the current tires on it. Dunlop doesn't seem to make these specific ones anymore. Anyone have recommendations? They say DUNLOP D401F 90/90-19 M/C 52H the rear says DUNLOP BELTED 491 MT90 B16 M/C 74H

If there is plenty of clearance around your existing front tire, I bet you could use any 100/19-19, like this one:

And for the rear, MT90 corresponds to 130/90.

Again if you have plenty of clearance around your existing rear tire, you could get something like this:

The Dunlop 400 series with that tread has been around longer than some of the riders on this forum. Probably why if you want better handling and traction, just buy any other brand. I switched from Dunlop to Avon several years ago, and the difference is huge. Find a tire the size you want in another brand and don't worry about getting that kind of Dunlop, it'll be a better tire anyway. Even Dunlop makes better tires in more modern tread designs and tire composition. When changing tire brands, go by the tire manufacturer recommended tire pressures, some are higher than those old Dunlops. Also, the better traction tires, like Avon, often get less tire mileage. Some of us like all the cornering and braking advantage we can get, some just want to get every mile they can out of a tire, that's up to you. The Shinko previously mentioned gets good reports for traction, not so good for mileage.

My first tire was an Avon, it did not like the black snakes on the mountain roads, 8k miles
ME 880 MARATHON was better on the black snakes but same on miles 8k
Dunlop 401 was 10k miles
Now I have Dunlop Elite, they handle the best out of all three I have tried, 5k miles on they and no signs of any wear, (I haven't checked with Guage)
Tire mileage depends on the way you drive your ride, do you ride on the interstate or Do you power, and decel in/out of mountain roads, or do you Ride like Grandpa.
I drive like I stole it. I am very happy with Dunlop Elite

My research led me to ME 888 - will let you know how they fare once I am able to mount them up.

I don't know if there is any difference between the ME 888 and the ME 880, I had the ME 880
was about 1/4inch OD smaller
thank the Dunlop 401. Just saying if it matters you ya, it did on my ride. I scraped my foot pegs more with the ME 880. Just my 2 cents
