Default Opinions on the 1200 Iron seat

Looking for opinions on the 1200 Iron seat, mainly from people that own one and have put a few miles riding on one. I like the looks of it and if I could find one fairly reasonable I might buy one unless it's a torture device... I tried to get the dealer to pull one off a new Iron and let me mount it on my bike just to sit on it. They didn't seem to be to open to that idea.

Compared to the seat on my Superlow it looks like it might move me forward slightly. It is also a whopping 4.5" narrower than my seat. Again, opinions....

I'm wondering if fitment with the two different tanks would be an issue. Firehawk has the 4.5Gal?

I sat on a new Iron, handlebars are different so the reach isn't the same, and without the seat actually on my bike I can't really tell if it would move me too far forward. I just would like to be sure about it before I possibly shell out that kind of cash.

They say the seat fits all Sportsters from '10 on up. The front of my seat, and the Iron seat appear to be in the same spot, roughly straight up from the front edge of the side cover. So I assume the Iron seat will fit with the 4.5 gallon tank. Something else I need to make sure of though... Can't find any pictures of the seat on a Sportster other than with the 3.3 gallon tank.

Just went to HD's website, the Iron seat will fit an XL883L with the 4.5 gallon tank. At least that question is answered...

I really like the seat on my Iron. I have seen a pic somewhere of a 1200 Iron with the larger tank. It looked really good, if I found someone with a mint cond vivid black 4.5 gallon tank, I would trade tanks. I have never liked the gap between the seat and tank.
But yes the Iron seat is a nice one, I like the step, its just right so you dont slide back on it and I find it to be alittle plusher than most Harley seats I have tried.

Dealers often have test seats available, which you can try on your own bike. It is worth asking.

They sure do have demo seats. I was able to try a sundowner 2 up before purchasing.

I've seen lots of them in some dealers, but not sure if they include stock seats as well as optional models.
