Default Start switch doesn't respond. Bike wont start

Hi guys,

I just went out for a ride and everything was fine but today morning it wont start. When I turn on the engine switch, it does respond, I hear the pump and headlights start, horn works but when I hit start switch, nothing happens..no clicks.

The only thing i did this morning was installed pillion seat. I read another similar thread which mentioned that kill switch might have been turned off by mistake but not sure where can I find it becuase only switch I know is on the handle bar engine switch and that is obviously on.

Is the handlebar KILL switch in the RUN position?
Bike in neutral?

Can't offer other suggestions since you supplied no info on your bike, like Year, model, mileage, etc.

Hi Sach, from a few miles to the North of you and welcome to HDF. As cHarley points out above we really need some basic info on your bike to help us give you an answer. Have you made any mods recently, or has a PO installed different handlebars? It is easy-peasy to damage the handlebar wiring, which includes the engine kill switch and starter.

Pull in the clutch and try it. If it starts something is wrong with the neutral switch otherwise see above.

Has you bike fallen over on the throttle side? That can shove the entire assembly toward the "dimple" in the handlebar and pinch the wires. I know, happened to me. Maybe work the start button a few times with power off, somewhere I read about "self cleaning" switches, perhaps you just have corroded contacts.

If you have the Security System on your bike, most likely cause is a bad battery in your fob. Mine did the same thing this last Spring when I went to start it up. Everything worked like yours except the starter switch.
