Default Iron 883 1" Lowering Blocks - Clearance Issues?

I just ordered a set of 12" shocks for my 2016 Iron but would like to keep the original ride height. Can I install 1" lowering blocks with these shocks and not suffer any clearance issue or will the tire hit the fender when the shocks bottom out? I've tried searching for the answer but couldn't find anything specific. I've seen some mention of relocating the wire harness when using lowering block w/ shorter shocks but nothing about taller shocks with lowering blocks.

Seems like if this wouldn't cause a clearance issue HD would have gone with the longer shocks to begin with a change the mount position (similar to lowering blocks). Any help would be greatly appreciated

What length shocks did you start with? I had a 2011 low with 11.5" stock shocks and lowered it by using 10.5" Burly slammers and did have clearance issues on the right side. Left side plenty of room and did not bottom out.

Why are you using lowering blocks as this changes the angle and the ride? IMO good quality shocks of the proper (desired) length with good travel and rebound is the way to go but you also need to consider sag. Sag will give you a more cushy ride.

The stock shocks are 11”.

I’m considering using lowering blocks to retain the factory seat height after upgrading the OEM shocks with taller 12” socks. Basically I’m trying to figure out if I can increase suspension travel with the larger shocks but keep the ride height the same by using lowering blocks.

12" shocks with these Lowering Blocks ( LINK ) will work fine, no clearances issues.

Also, you will get a much better ride, increasing the angle will make a better ride than the more straight up and down factory position.

"The more you have a cantilever (angle) on your shocks, the smoother the shocks will operate."

Did I mention I ended up with Bitubo shocks along with the Intiminator fork values from DK Customs ....good stuff.
