Default Taller Shocks for 2008 XL1200R

I have 13.5s on my 2008 XL 1200R, and it's not quite tall enough. I like the way the new roadsters sit. Can I put the new 15" shocks on my 2008?

Thank you for your answers.

You will likely have belt clearance issues with the frame at full rebound on the suspension. And depending on the overall shock lengths you could run in to bottoming issues as well.

13" was standard on your bike, you could probably go to 14" without any problems but as stated above 15" might start to cause problems.

Burly Stiletto's 15" shocks are designed for 86-03 Sportsters (see their fittment chart). Above 03 they have a proceedure for you to follow to determine if it will work and what you have to address before installing them.

Talk to Howard at Motorcyclemetal and a sponsor on this forum. You can get literally anything you want
I just ordered 13.5 Ohlins from him today and my Dyna below has Ohlins as well
All my bikes have Ohlins and they are brilliant shocks. Howards 4-1 model is not too expensive considering the alternatives
The Dyna was a bit more.............

Burly, Progressive, YSS and the like all are simply in a different league than Ohlins

Thank you for your answers.
The new Roadster shocks are also 13.25" IIRC like the old ones. From what I've read if you go much longer on the shocks for that era the belt will contact the rear brake linkage. I have a 2008 myself and put the base Ohlins on it and they are a MAJOR improvement, not cheap but worth it. FWIW also installed a new Roadster wheel (only $330) for less weight and better tire selection, stance and ride are good, handling is much improved.

Let's stand back a bit on this! Haarley, why do you want longer shocks? Explain what you want to achieve, so we can see if we can help you more. I'm also an Ohlins man, got them on both ends of my Glide, courtesy Howard, so like 65 and 08 above I have been round the loop a few times on the suspension trip.

One of the advantages of being a Member on this forum is that Howard gives a substantial discount on Ohlins shocks. The non adjustable separate reservoir model was the same price as the integral reservoir base model and has a longer stroke
