Interstate riding

RE: Interstate riding
For me the interstate is simply an efficient way to get from Point A to Point B. For the most part there is no scenery, but on the plus side it seems much safer than the typical urban traffic, to me anyways. Unless I'm pressed for time, I stay off the interstate and enjoy the backroads. But everyone should be comfortable and familar with interstate driving just in case you are forced to do a stretch of it.

I-75 sucks until you are away from Detroit because of the lousy road conditions. I-94 is good though. Been a couple of years since I've been on your side of the river so maybe the roads are better now. I didn't mind the traffic since everyone is going in the same direction.

RE: Interstate riding
Maybe someone has already posted this advice, but I got tired of reading the replies halfway down. I'm a newbie to this forum, but I've been riding for 26 years. When I'm on the highway (interstate or any place with a speed limit over 45) I try to remember the cage rule--keep back at least 2-3 seconds behind the car or truck in front of you). Then I add another second or two to give me extra time to react if something happens in front of me. Maybe I'm over-cautious, but I've never been in any danger that way. I've even seen rocks kicked up that were heading right for me, but I had time to move out of the way.
