Passing thought: Some shop could gain a bit of advertising every time their test results were referenced on a forum.
white noise man, white noise, nobody cares about stock 45-70 hp xl’s and what pump gas to run. Dyno time and R&D is expensive and time consuming.

no, I am not. It’s an honest question. At the end of the day my race bike is 13.1 to 1. It’s running and tuned, what else determines what octane I run?

[QUOTEIn the 60's and 70's we built a lot of engines for the 1/8th mile.][/QUOTE]

interesting, I build for maximum power, 1/8 or 1/4. Maybe that’s a 60s and 70s thing. Fortunately, my building only consist of assembly, claying sometimes sanding valve pockets ect, the rest is in the hands of my Xl Performance company of choice.

While this isn't on a Harley, it is on a bike.
It doesn't appear that any tuning for the higher octane was done, just different octane gas from the same station plus a "race" gas.

More Octane For More Power?

I see AAA did a report comparing premium and regular in cars-

https://newsroom.aaa.com/wp-content/...rt-FINAL-2.pdf

AAA test vehicles averaged 2.7% improvement in fuel economy.
The fuel economy improvements recorded during AAA testing do not offset the potential extra cost to purchase premium gasoline.
AAA test vehicles averaged an increase in horsepower of 1.4% across AAA’s tests.

Scroll down in the document, the regular tested at 88 R+M/2 the premium 92.6.
Both had 9.8% ethanol.

Not sure I go along with that. There are other studies out there that contradict that.
