Default 02 XLH 883 fork travel

I just got my sporty a couple of months ago and have been having issues with my front suspension.. I was told by the previous owner that it has been lowered and there is very little travel in the forks compared to most bikes I have seen... we are talking less than 2 inches of travel with the bike sitting unloaded. is this a normal travel with this bike?It is very uncomfortable to hit the larger bumpsand I added longer spacers under the fork caps to compensate for bottom-out on the bumps;that helped alot. I love the way it looks with it lowered and the oversized front tire. Any suggestions?

I am assuming that the H in XLH means 'Hugger' but I have also seen in the clymer manualdifferent specs fora "XLH 883" and a "XLH 883 Hugger" Is there a difference?

1. Put it back to original specs.

or

2. Trade it in on something more suited to your likes.
