Default picked up a new project

got this today. has some pretty bad wear on the front cylinder and piston. metal is in the case so they’ll have to be split. hopefully just cleaned up but there may be some more damage that i can’t see yet. the customer wanted to unload the bike because of the amount of work and possibly new motor it may need. he said if someone pays the bill for the work he has into at this point he’d hand over the title. so i paid $300 and the rest is history.

it’s a 2011 custom with stock 16” wheels. gonna finish tearing it all down. clean it all up and check for any damage inside. the heads are in great condition and the rear cylinder/piston is good too. so if everything else checks out good i’m going to just rebuild it. needs a set of fresh tires too. all in all i can’t complain.

Love those wheels, and nice paint as well. Damn good deal. Even if you have to split the cases, half the teardown is already done.

It's almost like winning a small lottery, getting a deal like when all it needs is something you have the means to do anyway.
Well done, man. Are you keeping it for yourself or flipping it?

not sure at this point. i have a dyna and a sportster already. my sportster is a 2002 883 with 7000 miles and carbureted.

i got this one for $1800. it was a real pile and i redid the whole thing. first pic is what it looked like when i got it. second pic is the bike completely stripped down. i took the rattle can paint off everything and redid literally everything, forks to tires, handlebars to exhaust and literally everything in between. took a little while, but i love this bike!

this one i just picked up is a 1200 with 21000 miles and fuel injected. i couldn’t pass up the deal but i need to find the motivation to get it running...

I had to read your post a couple of times to see what the "catch" was. Can't believe you got all that for $300! You could part it out and make a great profit if you decide to not bother with the rebuild. Like it was said earlier, you won the lottery.

Bad *** pick up well... looks like if you sell that 883 you love you will have plenty ofncash to get the new Fuel Injected bike running well. I think you might be sad at first but it will be well worth the heartach for a minute... then ***** and giggles on that 1200 it will be a night and day difference in ride quality. Then you can sell the new one for some serious profit.
