Well, I waited until I hit the 3,000 mile mark. Actually, it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.

But, if your confidence level isn't there yet, just keep riding to get more experience!

If you are a responsible person, you will know when you will want to do the 2 up riding. I always get a kick out of cHarleys signature picture of the guy riding several people on the bike. Now thats a knack.

My buddy taught me how to ride his 125cc Italian-made Harley-Davidson (right-foot shift) and we used to ride each other around on that all the time, even a little off-roading in the sand pits behind our neighborhood. Guess I have always taken passengers - over 30 years now.

I would wait until you are totally comfortable and in control of the bike before riding two-up, though. The handling and dynamics of the bike change a lot.

The first passenger I rode on my Sportster was at about 600 miles (my daughter couldn't wait any longer). I can't remember the first passenger I rode back 35 years ago.

on my first bike, about 300 miles into it. took this one girl who is really light, def helped that she wasnt that heavy. but i recommend you get used to slow turns and prepare the passager with all the rules (ie no shifting weight, stuff like that)... best of, have the passanger relax and enjoy the ride, its no fun when the passanger is uptight.

be safe and keep ridin...

Once you feel reasonably comfortable and confident riding it yourself I would give it a try, around the block kind of thing and take it from there.

ORIGINAL: cHarley

When comfortably riding and controlling the bike under normal conditions becomes instinctive.
Aye! Yep, cHarley hit on the head. it is not the amount of time or hours riden. It is the comfort level you have controling the bike. If you feel comfortable with it and think the riders weight won't trhough you off too much try a short ride. Stop if you aren't comfortable.
