Default Clutch lever wont return without being pushed out.

I recently replaced the clutch cable on my 04 1200c and the clutch lever gets stuck about half way out. I adjusted the cable and it will make the lever go out all the way but then it is too hard to pull the lever to engage the clutch. Amy ideas where I went wrong. Thanks.

Have a trace around see if there is a pinch point . Remove it from both ends and make sure it slides in its sleeve nice and smoothly .
Or you can cut straight to the mustard and open up the cases if you want to . See if there is push rod or spring issues inside .

How do you know if there is an issue with a pushrod or spring?

Did you follow the adjustment instructions in the Service Manual?
- completely slack the cable adjuster
- make the screw adjustment under the derby cover
- readjust for minimal slack in cable

Yes. Although I'm not sure that I have the adjustment on the screw inside the derby cover set right.

If it worked fine before you replaced the cable then I'd start over again. Confirm the cable and ramp assembly are installed correctly and that the clutch adjustment is correct. Also check the cable is moving freely within the housing as stated.

That's not the only things ***** have fallen out of.. Haha. The previous clutch handle was the same way. The bike sat outside for a year and the linens were rusted that is why I replaced them. When. I drained the oil it was very milky as if water was inside.
