Exclamation Rear brake light switch?

Was at the Harley dealership getting a new rear tire, the guy told me the rear brake light wasn't working and he could fix it for $150.00 and then went on to say something about the rear caliper could have problems being bled. The front brake light works so it's not a bulb. I looked at the rear brake linkage and don't see a brake light switch. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. the funny thing is I checked my lights before I left the house and everything worked.

You can find things using a parts website. Your rear brake-light switch is in your rear brake line, close to the master cylinder, which helps explain the cost you were quoted. Looks like a b1tch to replace, so worth playing with the switch to check that wiring connections are clean and tight, to see if that wakes it up.

part number 72023-51E. $20 add $5 for fliud and a funnel, 100% DIY.

replace the switch and bleed the line. easy peezy.

save $125 or spend another $25 on speed bleeders. ... save $100

you can get brake light switches at any auto parts store. they might be about $10 or so. take a picture of your switch with the wires removed and show it to the counter guy at the store. it's not a hard job to change them out.

Having just seen your bike is an 09 it may not have ABS but for newer bikes that do it is a whole different kettle of fish to bleed the system.
I have a custom here in bits and the brake light switch is on the left side just below the left side cover.

Quite common for the rear switch to fail. Mine did, and I've read of many others.
