Default new possible sporty owner

Haven't traded yet but possible I will this Friday. New to Harley Davidson not to riding. I the process of selling one of my bikes and was offered a 2002 sportster 883 with a 1200 kit installed. As it may or my not be a good trade not sure don't care just want to try a Harley. Can anyone give me pros and cons for the 2002 sportster ? and on what I should look at ? what should I ask about the 1200 kit?
thanks in advance

What are you trading? I bought my first Harley 6 months ago and I can tell you it ain't no Honda. If I were you I'd sell the bike you have and look for a Sportster that hasn't been molested and do your own customizing, you might wind up with someone's headache. 1200's are very affordable

I'm newer to Harleys but I would ask a lot of questions about the kit. When it was installed, who installed it, how it was tuned afterwards, etc.

Unless its 2k, keep looking. Just an FYI, the only bene to buying an 883 with a 1200 kit is that the 883 has a lower 1st gear so the 1200 kit will make it pull harder than even a stock 1200. That said, sportys are very cheap and very good bikes, very underrated IMHO. You can buy a really good sporty for as little as $3500 less if you are quick on the draw or an exceptional negotiator. If you are into bikes, well worth your time to put a few miles on one.
