2018 Forty Eight Anniversary (first Harley)
Hi all,
Just came back from the dealer with a 2018 Forty Eight, 115th anniversary edition. I got 0.99% for 5 years, so I went ahead and did it. Don't regret it for a second.
I want to definitely get some loud exhaust and air filter kit for this thing, I think I need to also get the computer programmed for it? Should wait until after the 1000 mile break in? Is the screaming eagle stuff the dealer sells the best option(It's pricey), or should I be looking at other stuff(I want loud but not crazy loud, I rented a bike with screaming eagle exhaust it was good to me). I'm new to bikes, I'm from cars/trucks but I know I want to modify this thing slowly. I'm mechanically inclined so I could install the muffler/air intake.
Also will be getting the passenger seat for my GF, the dealer is putting on the pegs/extra seat/backrest when the parts get in. They threw that in on the bike, pretty much only "deal" I got, haha.
Thanks.

Yes, I'd wait for the 1000 miles.
To assure there are no blatant warranty issues with the new bike.
Yes, air, exhaust, tuner all at same time.
Screaming Eagle vs others...many choices your decision.
FWIW IMO SE exhaust may not be the best option.
Enjoy your new ride.

So you are putting a seat on for a passenger? If it was me I would wait to put anything else on just incase you do like 99% of the people that buy a 48/sportster and start looking at a softail within the next 12 months... no need to waste your money till you know if this bike is what you really want. Also you can trade it back in the first 12 months for what you paid for it... so slow down and enjoy the bike its awesome... it's not something I would have picked if I was going to ride two up on is why i'm saying this. congratulations on the new 48
