Craked oil vent casing

Craked oil vent casing
hello,
Just seeking some advice, I just took my Sporty to the shop here in Germany for the bi-annual inspection and a annual service ect. There genious mechanic cracked the casing for the front oil vent and the rear one over tightened it and messed up the threads... so my goal is is it going to be easier and cheaper if I try and fix the crack by welding it back or just replacing the whole head. I do not know the exact extend of the damage only from a photo that dose not show the actual damage.. I wont be able to inspect it until i am back from visiting the US.
Thanks

Sounds like the mechanic was trying to crack both heads for you. What is it with people and their obsession with "perfect" torque on non-stressed bolts? Where is common sense? You can always check any bolt you think might loosen, but why not leave yourself a large margin for error? You can always go tighter, too tight and BAM, you lose.
Hope they owned up to creating the problem and make things right for you.

I do have my own i just looked at it today and its beyound repariable some how they made about a half in crack on the inside of the threads going in to the head and two others on the other sideso i am just going to buy a used one and rebuild it. Also the shop is saying they did not do it ... but got a lawyer on it so yeah.. that is the shitty thing about living in Germany you have to have you bike inspected yeary and there are very few good bike mechanicss that are not complete idiots

I think that's why this forum exists. None of us trust others to work on their bikes. I know I feel that way.
Sorry to hear about the shop denying responsibility. I hope you have success using due process now.
